ANDERSON, Ind. — Indiana State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday evening in Anderson. The incident sent one victim to an Indianapolis hospital in critical condition and led to one arrest.
According to a press release, ISP detectives and crime scene investigators within the Pendleton District were requested by the Anderson Police Department to respond to a shooting report. They were called around 7:31 p.m. to a residential address on Delmar Street.
Upon arriving at the scene, state police located a 44-year-old male in critical condition. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, per ISP. Police said he was transported to an area hospital shortly after they found him.
While the investigation is still ongoing, ISP detectives have determined that there was an altercation at the residence which led to the shooting.
One suspect was arrested after the shooting. He was charged with two misdemeanors. The charges were related to the suspect's violation of a protection order that had been established before the shooting on Saturday.
