INDIANAPOLIS – A crash involving a semi truck closed part of I-465 on the northeast side of Indianapolis, disrupting traffic for several hours.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, all lanes of 465 eastbound were closed.

It was reported around 5:10 a.m. near the I-69 interchange and Binford Boulevard. It appeared a semi went through a concrete barrier near mile marker 37.

Indiana State Police responded to the scene

"I-465 eastbound at the 37 mile marker has a long backup due to the crash," the agency said on social media. "Use caution in the area. ISP and first responders are on scene."

State police said the incident involved a semi truck and three passenger vehicles. At this time, no one has been taken to the hospital. ISP said the interstate will be closed for "a while" and couldn't provide a time frame for when the scene would be cleared.

Traffic was being diverted to I-69, police said. The I-465 northbound express lane remained closed, and drivers should expect lengthy delays. State police advised drivers to avoid the area.

Around 9:20 a.m., ISP said clean up efforts were still in progress as crews worked to make repairs to the barrier wall.

"Still expect long delays for the next few hours," ISP said on social media.

Just before 12 p.m., ISP indicated all lanes were open.

"Continue to use caution as traffic clears. Thanks to all the drivers that showed their patience," the agency said.
