INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating after two people were shot in what appeared to be a domestic incident on the east side.
According to IMPD, East District officers were dispatched just after 6 a.m. to the 3600 block of Luewan Drive. That’s near 38th Street and N. Mitthoefer Road.
Police found two people shot at the location. Both were reported to be “awake and breathing,” according to IMPD.
Detectives said an adult male was shot and a woman suffered an "accidental self-inflicted" gunshot wound. Investigators believe this was an "isolated domestic incident" and said both parties were cooperating with detectives.
Investigators recovered a firearm at the scene that they believe was linked to the shooting. They were working to obtain a search warrant for the residence.
Officers haven't made any arrests in connection with the case, IMPD said.
