According to previous reports, Nance and an accomplice climbed through the drive-thru window of a Taco Bell located at 11425 Allinsonville Road around 1:30 a.m. on June 30. Nance was reportedly armed with a handgun modified with a machine gun conversion device and an extended magazine.
Employees immediately began running away as soon as they saw the armed men enter the fast food restaurant. Employees later told police that Nance and the other suspect allegedly threatened to shoot them if they ran as they demanded that they open a safe and empty all of the cash registers.

Nance eventually left Taco Bell with multiple cell phones belonging to the employees and around $1,000 in cash that was stolen from the restaurant. Nance also allegedly stole a Dodge Charger that belonged to one of the employees.
As Nance was pulling away from the Taco Bell, a K9 officer reportedly observed the Challenger matching the stolen vehicle's description. Police said Nance then continued speeding away from the officer while driving recklessly.
The pursuit ended at Castle Creek Apartments where Nance allegedly exited the vehicle and ran away.
K9 Tiesto chased after Nance when a gunshot rang out after Nance said he "tensed up" after being bitten by the K9 in his rear, causing him to accidentally squeeze the trigger. Nobody was struck by the stray bullet.

During his questioning, Nance did not provide police with the names of his accomplices, according to court documents.
