INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating a deadly stabbing that left one man dead on the city's south side Friday night.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 7:53 p.m. to the 200 block of Stephanie Lane, which is the listed address for Country Club Apartments, after receiving reports that a person had been stabbed. Upon arrival, IMPD said officers found a victim suffering from "injuries consistent with trauma."
IMPD confirmed to FOX59/CBS4 that one of the responding officers arrived at the scene and reportedly observed an unidentified man on top of the victim during the altercation. Detectives are investigating to learn more about the circumstances that led up to the deadly stabbing.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to IMPD. Officers have detained a person of interest. However, it remains unclear what role, if any, the individual may have had in the fatal incident.
