Woman killed after shots fired into northeast side home

INDIANAPOLIS - Police are investigating after someone shot into a residence, killing a woman early Saturday morning on Indy's northeast side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened just after 1 a.m. in the 4300 block of Hovenweep Way, near East 42nd Street.

When officers arrived, they located a 50-year-old woman inside of a residence with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased, according to police.

Police believe someone shot into the residence and struck the woman inside. Police say there was another family member inside the house with the woman.

Police have not released any suspect information.
