INDIANAPOLIS – A woman was stabbed multiple times Thursday morning in downtown Indianapolis.
According to Indianapolis Metropolitan police, officers responded around 6:30 a.m. to 201 E. Washington St. The address traces back to the Julia M. Carson Transit Center.
Police found a woman who had been stabbed multiple times. She was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Police said a "potential suspect" had been detained. An IMPD incident report later indicated police arrested a 20-year-old woman in connection with the case.
On Thursday afternoon, police confirmed that 20-year-old Kaya Lewis was arrested under a preliminary charge of battery causing serious bodily injury.
The incident remains under investigation.
