INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, alongside Indianapolis Animal Care Services, will break ground on a new animal shelter in the 5000 block of East Raymond Street on Monday at 11 a.m.
According to a press release, the IACS Shelter is planned to be 70,000 square feet and will prioritize the wellbeing of every animal within its walls. In doing so, the facility will boast natural light, reduced noise, increased outdoor space and a medical care suite.
Per a release, the upgrades will allow animals to remain comfortable and interact with their future owners to hopefully find a forever home
IACS is also working hand-in-hand with local and regional animal welfare partners. Officials say this will allow for smooth daily operations, as well as help their organization prepare for the future.
