LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Lafayette Police arrested a man after a shooting early Friday morning in the area of Emerald Pines Court and McCarty Lane.
Officers were called to the area around 3:15 a.m., responding to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found an unresponsive female suffering from gunshot wounds, the report said. The victim was transferred to an area hospital and was last reported in critical condition.
Lafayette PD then noticed a vehicle driving in the direction of McCarty Ln., which documents indicate meant the driver was attempting to flee the scene towards McCarty Ln. Officers made a traffic stop on this vehicle, and the vehicle fled, leading to a brief pursuit.
The police report then said that Lafayette PD identified and arrested 26-year-old Anthony Reed Jr. It reported that he and the female victim are likely acquaintances, though their relationship and what caused the shooting currently remain unclear.
