MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie police arrested a naked man this week after he reportedly threatened young children hanging out in a playground near his house.
William C. Moffitt, 42, was arrested by Muncie Police Department officers Wednesday night after neighbors reported that a naked man was causing trouble and trying to hit people with a hammer. He now faces two felony charges in relation to the incident.

MPD said officers were called just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday to houses in the 2200 block of S. Walnut Street in reference to a fight. Officers arrived and spoke with two parents who said that a man in a nearby house, later identified as Moffitt, had threatened their kids who were playing outside.
"[A mother] stated that the kids were playing at a nearby playground and not in Moffitt's yard, so she was confused as to why he even bothered the children," a police report reads. "[One child] also stated that he saw Moffitt hit his mom's car with the hammer."
One parent said that their daughter, a 6-year-old, was scared of Moffitt because he was armed with a hammer and screaming at her "very aggressively." When the parents went to confront him, Moffitt was reportedly naked and threatened to kill them if they didn't leave his property.
MPD said officers then approached Moffitt's house and that the suspect, still naked and armed with a hammer, soon came out of the back door of his house. As they walked toward him, Moffitt reportedly told officers "he would murder them all."
Moffitt was eventually detained despite being aggressive and threatening officers. He was later booked into the Delaware County Jail for intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony, and forcible intimidation, a Level 6 felony.
No other information was provided by police regarding Moffitt's arrest. Online court records have not yet been updated to reflect an initial hearing date in his case.
