INDIANAPOLIS —The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a suspect in a homicide that occurred at a gas station on the near east side of Indianapolis in March.

According to Amanda Hibschman, an officer with the IMPD, the department is looking for 34-year-old Deandre Rogers in relation to a March 14 shooting that resulted in the death of 31-year-old Candace Powell.
At around 2:30 a.m. on March 14, officers responded to a local hospital where they found Powell, who has arrived earlier that morning with gunshot wounds. Powell later died from her injuries. IMPD said at the time that they believed the shooting happened in the parking lot of a gas station on Prospect Street.
Hibschman said that Rogers is believed to be armed and dangerous and has ties to the Houston, Texas and the Atlanta, Georgia areas. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office filed an arrest warrant for Rogers on the following charges:
- One count of murder
- One count of unlawful carrying of a handgun - prior felony conviction within the last 15 years, a Level 5 felony
- One misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer
Hibschman said anyone with knowledge of Rogers' whereabouts are asked to contact the department or the Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
