Man shot, killed during family dispute on Indy's NW side

INDIANAPOLIS — A man was shot and killed inside of a residence on the near northwest side of Indianapolis Saturday night.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of West 27th Street on a report of a person shot just before 11 p.m. When police arrived at the scene, they located a victim with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

The victim was initially reported to be in critical condition. IMPD indicated that he later died after being transported to a local hospital.

Police said some sort of family disturbance took place inside of a residence before the shooting unfolded.

IMPD took a person of interest into custody after the shooting. Police released the individual after consulting with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will help IMPD determine the victim's exact manner and cause of death. MCCO will release the decedent's name after his family has been properly notified of his death.
