INDIANAPOLIS - A bystander rescued a woman after her car crashed into a pond on Indy's north side Saturday morning.
According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, crews were dispatched at 2:45 a.m. on Saturday on a report of a vehicle into a pond at the Chelsea Village Apartments.
Upon arrival to the scene, responders found a vehicle in a retention pond. Personnel entered the water and found no one in the car.
Investigators say a woman lost control of her car before landing in the pond. She was able to free herself from the car before being pulled out of the water by a bystander, according to fire officials.
Both individuals were transported to an area hospital for hypothermia treatment.
The incident remains under investigation.
