CASS COUNTY, Ind. -- Deputies have arrested a 15-year-old accused of making threats toward a school in Walton.

According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, a school resource officer with Lewis Cass Schools launched an investigation on Monday after being notified of a potential school threat.

The suspect, who authorities confirmed was a 15-year-old male student, was detained before school officials enacted lockdown procedures. CCSO said deputies recovered weapons that the student was in possession of but these reportedly did not include any firearms.

The student was arrested and transported to the Allen County Juvenile Detention Center where he will remain until his court date arrives in Cass County.

Authorities also executed a search warrant at the student's residence where they located a list allegedly containing potential targets, CCSO said.

Lewis Cass School Administration staff, Cass County JUvenile Probation, Walton Police and the Cass County Prosecutor's Office also assisted in the investigation.

The threats remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact CCSO at 574-753-7800.
