INDIANAPOLIS -- A teenager was arrested in relation to a reported armed robbery on the north side of Indianapolis, according to officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

On Dec. 7, officers with the department's north district were called to the 3900 block of N. Meridian Street in reference to an attempted armed robbery.

When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with a woman who said a teenager wearing a grey and black hoodie pointed a silver and black handgun at her. The teenager reportedly told her to "give me your wallet and give me your phone."

After the woman told the teenager she did not have anything, the teen ran southbound. IMPD said that a person later identified as the involved teen was reportedly found in the 3600 block of N. Illinois Street. After the teen was arrested, he was reportedly in possession of a silver and black handgun, which was later determined to be an airsoft gun.

IMPD said that the teen was arrested on preliminary armed robbery charges and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make the final charging decision.
