INDIANAPOLIS - Police are investigating after a man was struck and killed by a car in downtown Indianapolis Sunday morning.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just before 3:30 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of West 10th Street and North Illinois Street on the report of a personal injury accident.
When officers arrived, they found a car had struck a male pedestrian, police said. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, but later died from his injuries, according to police.
Police said the driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators. The driver of the car will undergo a blood draw, which is standard procedure when there is a serious accident, police say.
The incident remains under investigation.
