INDIANAPOLIS — Multiple juveniles were involved in a SWAT situation on the east side of Indianapolis on Sunday night.
During a media briefing, an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson reported that officers were called to the 3300 block of North Drexel Avenue at approximately 8:51 p.m. on a report of shots fired. When police arrived at the scene, they located an individual with a weapon.
Police detained the person with the weapon but later discovered shots were being fired into a residence. Officers then learned of gunshot victim, and three suspects were inside of a residence.
IMPD's Special Weapons and Tactics team was called out to the scene "due to the potential violence that had been involved," according to police.
Officers were able to peacefully negotiate and apprehend everyone inside of the residence without any further incident. The gunshot victim was taken to an area hospital in stable condition. Meanwhile, the three suspects involved were taken into custody.
Police did not provide the ages of the suspects, but did say juveniles were involved in the incident. No other information was provided.
