23-year-old Indiana man found dead in Tippecanoe River; DNR investigating

CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. — A body was discovered Monday morning along the Tippecanoe River in Carroll County. Indiana DNR officials are now investigating.

Indiana Conversation Officers were called around 11 a.m. on Dec. 2 to the Tippecanoe River for a dead body. The report came from the 6400 block of N. County Road 1225 West.

Investigators arrived and identified the body as that of Evan Wood, a 23-year-old from Monticello. Wood was pronounced dead on scene, according to DNR.

An initial investigation determined that Wood was reported missing from his residence early Monday morning. DNR said family and friends were actively searching the area when his body was found.

Officials said that Wood's cause of death is pending autopsy results. He was reportedly last heard from around 10 p.m. on Dec. 1.

According to DNR, officers are now working to determine where Wood went after 10 p.m. Sunday. Anyone with information is being asked to call (812) 837-9536 or 911. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS.
