INDIANAPOLIS — A 16-year-old is charged with murder after police found a 34-year-old shot dead in the street on Tuesday.

Dawensky Zamor has been officially charged as an adult by the Marion County Prosecutor's Office. He faces one count of murder along with dangerous possession of a firearm.

According to court documents, a passerby witnessed the deadly shooting that occurred on Harcourt Road on Tuesday.

The witness told police they were driving down the street when they saw a "male wearing a red hoodie with the hood up" shove the victim off the east sidewalk and into the street.

The victim reportedly backed up to the middle of the road but the suspect continued approaching the victim. The witness said this was when the suspect in the red hoodie pulled out a handgun and shot the victim.

The victim, later identified as 34-year-old Lance Little, collapsed into the street after the shooting while the suspect fled toward Reflections apartments. Little would be pronounced dead on scene by responding paramedics.

The witness attempted to render aid to Little and allegedly spotted the suspect enter through the white gate for the apartment located at 1856 Welchwood Circle.

IMPD ended up calling SWAT officers to the scene who set up a perimeter to canvass the area for the shooter.

Police spoke with several witnesses to gather a description of the suspect. While making announcements to the apartment, police officers spotted a teenager exit the apartment at 1856 Welchwood Circle. Officers said the teenager wasn't wearing a red sweatshirt but did appear to have blood on his leg and sandals.

Police took the teenager into custody who was later identified as Zamor.

A search of Zamor's room uncovered a handgun wrapped in a red sweatshirt. The weapon was hidden inside the headboard of his bed.

Police said Zamor wouldn't speak to officers. His mother reportedly told police the teen sometimes entered a "catatonic state" and did not speak to anyone. She claimed Zamor has seen doctors over this issue and has even been hospitalized in the past.

If convicted of murder, Zamor could face up to 65 years in prison.
