INDIANAPOLIS — A warrant has been issued for the arrest of an Indiana man who made threats against a central Indiana Walmart and a local school.
According to court documents filed Tuesday, 30-year-old David M. George made threatening posts on social media earlier this month. One tip police received indicated George posted something to the effect of "I'm going to kill myself and take out 40 women."
Court records report that the posts George made about committing a mass shooting at a Walmart or a school have been taken down. Police did not name which school George was threatening, specifically.
Law enforcement preliminarily charged George with felony intimidation for the threats he made on social media. The warrant issued for his arrest is tied to that charge.
George has had previous run-ins with law enforcement in both Marion and Hamilton Counties. George pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor intimidation in Hamilton County in September. He is also implicated in an active misdemeanor trespassing case that was filed earlier this year in Marion County.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department also encountered George in the Castleton area twice in October. On both occasions, police met with George after they were asked to check his welfare.
According to an affidavit for probable cause, George has threatened to commit suicide on social media multiple times.
Some of the tipsters IMPD spoke with during its latest investigation of George indicated that he may not be capable of actually committing a mass shooting. IMPD has not ascertained whether or not George owns a gun or is capable of acquiring one.
George is believed to be homeless, and IMPD reported that he has not been arrested yet because he is currently hospitalized for physical and mental evaluation.
No additional information on the warrant issued for George has been made available.
If George is formally charged with felony intimidation and convicted, he could face 2.5 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
