EDINBURGH, Ind. -- A 48-year-old man has died after a stabbing in Edinburgh early Monday morning.
According to a news release from the Edinburgh Police Department, officers responded to a stabbing in the 6400 block of E State Road 252 at around 12:22 a.m. on Monday. When officials arrived, they found a 48-year-old man who had been stabbed in the torso.
Officers, along with first responders on scene, reportedly attempted life saving efforts for the man at the scene but the man was later pronounced dead. On Monday, officials with the Johnson County Prosecutor's Office identified the man who died as Michael Gene Adair, an Edinburgh resident.
The release said that a person of interest at the scene has been detained at the scene for questioning. In a Monday afternoon news release, the suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Steven Garvin, a Taylorsville resident. Officials said the department is working with the Johnson County Prosecutor's Office in reference to all potential criminal charges as a result of the investigation.
