6 displaced by residence fire on near west side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — Six adults were displaced by a residence fire on the near west side of Indianapolis Sunday afternoon.

In a post on Facebook, the Indianapolis Fire Department reported that the blaze broke out at a home in the 3600 block of West Michigan Street. Crews responded around 12:04 p.m. and found heavy smoke and fire pushing from the two-story house.

IFD reported that the home was safely evacuated and no residents or firefighters were injured during the fire.

Crews from IFD, the Speedway Fire Department and the Wayne Township Fire Department brought the blaze under control in 30 minutes. Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, per IFD.
