INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Public Schools confirmed that it is investigating an incident that allegedly occurred between a staff member and a student at Arsenal Tech High School in April.
In a statement sent to FOX59/CBS4 Friday night, IPS said it was investigating alongside the Indiana Department of Child Services and IPS Police to determine what incident allegedly occurred between the staff member and student last month.
The unidentified staff member has been suspended as the investigation moves forward, according to IPS.
According to an Indianapolis Public Schools police report obtained by FOX59/CBS4, officers were called to 1500 E. Michigan Street, the address of Arsenal Tech High School, after a student "reported an alleged assault that occurred on April 11, 2024."

Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) is aware of an incident that occurred between a student and a staff member at Arsenal Tech High School in April.
IPS Employee Relations, in conjunction with DCS, and IPS Police are investigating the incident to determine what happened. The employee who was involved in the incident with the student is on suspension pending the investigation. However, all actions taken around this incident are under review and are subject to all applicable laws, and to IPS Employee Code of Conduct, Policies and Procedures.
The safety of our students and staff is always our priority at IPS.

This investigation comes weeks after FOX59/CBS4 originally reported that former IPS teacher Julious Johnican allegedly recorded a video of a 1st-grade student beating a special needs student at George Washington Carver Montessori IPS School 87.
The Indiana Department of Education, IPS, and IMPD are currently reviewing the allegations against Johnican that were laid out in the civil lawsuit filed by the family of the special needs 7-year-old student against IPS, the district and administrators.
