INDIANAPOLIS – Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man found near train tracks overnight on the near east side.
According to Indianapolis Metropolitan police, officers responded around 12:10 a.m. to South Pine Street and East Maryland Street, where they found a man dead.
On Friday morning, officials with the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the person who died as 52-year-old Jeffrey Brooks Devault.
Police saw blood on the area near the tracks and believe a train hit the man. At this point in the investigation, they’re trying to determine the exact cause of death.
The coroner's office confirmed on Friday morning that Devault was hit by a train.
IMPD doesn’t suspect foul play at this time. The case remains under investigation.
