DANVILLE, Ind. - Fall is just around the corner and farms across central Indiana are gearing up for their busiest season.

Around 10,000 people come to Beasley’s Orchard in Danville each weekend to enjoy all the fall favorites, from the pumpkin patch to the cider bar.

“You can't have fall without getting lost in a corn maze, right?” said Jim Finley, the agritourism manager at the orchard.

“It might not taste very good, but you know, you're definitely welcome to pick yourself a little trophy thereafter successfully navigating the maze."

With four acres high of husks, the corn maze is carved out to celebrate Hendricks County's bicentennial year.

“It's really nice to celebrate and honor the county's history, given that we've been here since 1946 and you know, are such a large part of the county,” he said.

As for the fresh you-pick produce, farmers said this year has been hot so everything is about two weeks early, however, it's been a great year for them.

“Strawberries in May, red raspberries in June, sunflowers and zinnias throughout the summer and now the fall,” said Finley.

With fields of Honeycrisp, gala, and golden delicious, the orchard said cold springs have impacted their apples in the past, but they are perfectly ripe this season.

“The past three years have been kind of difficult for the apples,” he said.

“This year, with our apple crop being so good, we're super happy, and we can't wait to share it with everyone that comes and visits this fall.”

Even though the leaves haven't fallen quite yet, the Beasleys said they're planning out their crops for next year already.

Their fall festivities begin Sept. 14th and go on until Halloween, seven days a week.
