MARION, Ind. — The Marion Police Department reported that a driver operating under the influence crashed with a school bus Wednesday afternoon.
According to MPD, officers responded around 2:49 p.m. to the intersection of 4th and Baldwin Avenue, on the report of a crash involving a Marion Community Schools School Bus. No injuries were reported at the scene, and there were only two children on the bus at the time.
Following the investigation, it was determined that the driver of a Dodge Charger failed to stop at a red light, colliding with a school bus that had the right of way.
This driver turned out to be 44-year-old Jason Ullery, police said. MPD stated that Ullery was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, despite no reported on-scene injuries.
At the hospital, Uller admitted to heroin use. Per a press release, he now faces an OWI charge, as well as a charge for driving while suspended.
