90-degree heat rolls on; update on weekend storm chances

This morning brings more mugginess, as temperatures hover in the 70s, along with patchy fog in a few spots, especially northwest of Indianapolis. Overall, fairly quiet, as a few overnight storms are now pushing into Ohio.

This afternoon will bring more heat and humidity, as we make another run at 90+ degree temperatures! Today will likely mark our sixth straight day of 90+ degree heat and the hottest stretch of this summer. A weak or random storm can't be ruled out (late afternoon), but most of the state remains dry again. This will likely also mark our tenth straight day of no measurable rainfall for downtown Indianapolis.

Friday will bring more intense heat with highs pushing near record levels (95° in 1964). Hazy sun and more dryness expected, too, for most of the state.

Weekend Update: A change in timing for the rain and storm chances is now underway. It appears that most rainfall will not arrive until very late Friday if not overnight. The cold front will likely not clear until mid-afternoon Saturday...meaning that rainfall will linger marking a wetter Saturday than anticipated. Look for another update tomorrow morning for planning your weekend!
