INDIANAPOLIS -- SWAT has been called to a residence to help detain a suspect accused of shooting and injuring a man on Indy's near northwest side Wednesday night.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called around 7:45 p.m. to the 600 block of Eugene Street after receiving reports that a person was shot. IMPD said officers arrived and located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition where he is continuing to receive treatment.
Officers subsequently learned that the shooting suspect was possibly barricaded inside a home on Eugene Street. IMPD confirmed that responding officers asked for assistance from the SWAT team to assist on the scene. It is currently unknown if the suspect is inside the residence as officers continue to investigate.
Detectives are still working to learn more about the circumstances that led up to the shooting. IMPD emphasized that there is no active threat to the community.
As of this article's publication, no suspects have been apprehended.
