Deadly July crash, shooting being investigated as homicide

INDIANAPOLIS – A deadly crash and shooting from July is now a homicide investigation.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the July 5 incident happened around 6 a.m.

IMPD and EMS were dispatched to North Harding Street and West 18th Street. The crash involved a passenger vehicle and an IndyGo bus; a third vehicle sustained extensive damage.

Treasure Gray, 21, died in the incident. She was taken off life support after suffering injuries in the crash. Police also said she’d suffered from gunshot wounds.

Her family said she was shot multiple times while being chased; her car slammed into an IndyGo bus. At least three other people were injured in the incident, IMPD said.

Police initially characterized the case as a death investigation. However, the Marion County Coroner’s Office has ruled her death a homicide.
