Expect a very warm, muggy start out-the-door, as temperatures hover in the middle 70s at sunrise. Bright sun will bring a quick rise in temperatures and intense heat by late morning and through the afternoon.

Later today, our air temperatures will reach the middle to lower 90s, nearing record levels held since 1913 for Indianapolis. Expect clouds to develop around 1 p.m. and the winds to freshen from the south. The added clouds and breeze will bring some relief!

A few storms are expected to develop, too, bringing some lightning, gusts, and heavier downpours in spots. Not all will get rainfall but good to have at least a chance, considering the dryness, as of late.

Additional storms will be in play tonight and through Tuesday but remain widely scattered statewide. Our rain and storm chances diminish by Tuesday evening and the hotter temperatures take hold end the workweek and start our weekend. Be sure to take it slow and keep an eye on your neighbors. Here are some tips below for days like this.
