INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis metro police are investigating after three men were shot following a large disturbance at Haughville Park on the city's near west side Tuesday night.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched around 8:17 p.m. to Haughville Park, which is located at 520 North Belleview Place, after receiving reports indicating that shots were fired in the area.
IMPD said officers arrived at the park and observed a large disturbance involving multiple people. A short time later, the run was upgraded to a person shot.
Around 8:20 p.m., officers later found one adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound near the park at 10th Street and the 1000 block of North Belleview Place. A short time later, another adult male was located with apparent gunshot wounds at West Michigan Street and North Pershing Avenue.
IMPD confirmed a third adult male self-transported from the park to Eskenazi Hospital. All three victims are currently in stable condition, according to IMPD.
At this time, it remains unclear what led to the shooting.
Kevin Duley, a lieutenant with IMPD's Southeast District, said officers will continue to urge community members to find peaceful ways to resolve conflicts.
"It's one of those things where it is obviously safe to have a gathering," Duley said. "Any time you have one or two irresponsible individuals who do not have the coping mechanisms or the ability to deal with conflict appropriately, then situations like these arise."
Detectives will remain on the scene and continue canvassing for evidence and urged witnesses to come forward and share any video they may have captured of the disturbance with police.
This is a developing story and more information will be added as it becomes available.
