INDIANAPOLIS — Two suspects were detained after an officer-involved shooting turned into a police chase in downtown Indianapolis early Saturday morning.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, at approximately 3:20 a.m., officers working in the area heard gunfire near the intersection of East Georgia Street and South Meridian Street, just south of Monument Circle.
When officers arrived, they located two individuals and gunfire was exchanged with at least one of them.
The suspects involved were not struck. The officers involved were also not struck.
Police say the suspects then fled in a vehicle and led police on a short chase. The chase ended when the suspects crashed into parked vehicles at the 800 block of North East Street.
Officers immediately detained two individuals of interest.
A firearm was found at the scene.
