INDIANAPOLIS — Indy police have launched a homicide investigation this week after a man was found dead from gunshot wounds on the city's near west side.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said that officers were called around 1 p.m. Thursday to the 400 block of Haugh Street for a death investigation.
Upon arrival at the residential area, which is near the intersection of W. Vermont Street and N. Warman Avenue close to Max Bahr Park, officers found an unresponsive adult male inside his house.
IEMS arrived on scene and pronounced the man dead. Upon further investigation, officers found that the victim had suffered gunshot wounds.
IMPD homicide detectives were called to the scene to begin an investigation. The Marion County Coroner's Office will soon conduct an autopsy to determine the exact manner and cause of death. As of this article's publication, no name or identity of the victim has been released.
