INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis man who was reportedly involved in a carjacking that led to Tuesday's police action shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis has been arrested.
According to an update from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Joseph Dauda was arrested on armed robbery charges after the reported carjacking. The carjacking reportedly occurred on Tuesday at a gas station on North Post Road, according to previous reports.
A woman told IMPD officers on Tuesday that she was held at gunpoint by multiple people who took her car. Based on her description, officers found located the woman's car, as well as a suspect vehicle, at the Cavalier Court apartment complex.
An IMPD officer reportedly saw one of the suspects at the complex. An interaction between the officer and the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Jerrett Gray, Jr., led to the officer-involved shooting. A grey sedan suspected of being involved in the carjacking reportedly left the scene.
Following the shooting, detectives from the Indiana Crimes Guns Task Force and the department's violent crimes unit began to search for the suspects, using local traffic cameras and researching locations. Detectives located the suspect vehicle in the 300 block of North Shortridge Road on the east side of Indianapolis.

The update read that detectives saw several individuals who were believed to be involved in the carjacking get into two vehicles. Officials conducted an initial traffic stop in the 7500 block of E. 10th Street where a man, later identified as Dauda, was detained without incident.
Detectives with the department's homicide unit interviewed Dauda about his potential involvement in the carjacking. The update said that Dauda was then arrested on armed robbery charges.
Officials then conducted a second traffic stop in the 1700 block of North Shadeland Avenue, which led to three other individuals being detained. The update read that detectives saw a rifle on the floorboard of the vehicle during the stop and a further search of the vehicle produced a handgun magazine and around 15 grams of marijuana.

The driver of the vehicle, identified by police as 20-year-old Damoni Armstrong, was found to be operating the vehicle on a suspended license with a prior conviction. Armstrong was also found in possession of a machine gun conversion device, the update read.
A 17-year-old, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested for marijuana possession. IMPD homicide detectives interviewed Armstrong, the 17-year-old as well as an additional passenger about their possible involvement in the carjacking.
