INDIANAPOLIS — A person is in critical condition after being shot in Fountain Square on the southeast side of Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched at 12:49 p.m. to Virginia Avenue and Shelby Street on a report of a person shot.
Upon their arrival, police located a victim with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. IMPD reported that the victim is in critical condition.
IMPD indicated that 31-year-old Lekedrick Hughes was arrested for his alleged role in the shooting. He now faces a preliminary charge of felony battery.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make final charging decisions in the case.
