SPEEDWAY, Ind. -- Speedway police are on the scene of a fatal crash involving two vehicles near North High School Road early Wednesday afternoon.
Officers with the Speedway Police Department were dispatched around 1:01 p.m. to North High School Road and Embassy Row after receiving reports that a fatal crash had occurred in the area.
SPD said two SUVs were involved in the deadly crash, with the deceased individual being ejected from a blue SUV that officers found at the scene. One other person was also inside the blue SUV when the crash occurred but their status wasn't immediately provided.
SPD did not confirm how many occupants were inside the black SUV at the time of the crash. Authorities appeared to indicate no other serious injuries were reported, confirming that all of them were checked out at the scene.
Speedway police urged drivers to avoid High School Road between 25th Street and 30th Street as crews arrived at the scene to investigate.
