MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. — An early morning Morgan County police chase ended with two people being arrested on gun and drug charges after officers found meth and guns in their car.

Nolan Collins, 28, of Martinsville - the alleged driver in the pursuit - was booked into jail and charged with meth possession, unlawful handgun possession, resisting law enforcement, driving while suspended and more. The passenger - 24-year-old Kaylynn Thompson of Bloomington - faces meth and marijuana charges.

The two were arrested after an early morning police pursuit throughout Morgan County. A sheriff's deputy was patrolling around 3:45 a.m. Friday near the intersection of E. Washington Street and Home Avenue in Martinsville when he reportedly saw a car commit a traffic violation.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla reportedly turned off the lights and continued southbound on Grant Street. The deputy followed behind the Corolla and reportedly saw the driver quickly accelerate westbound on Walnut Street after turning the car's lights back on.

The deputy then attempted to pull over the driver, but police said he "failed to comply." Rather, Collins reportedly tried to evade the deputy through several streets and one yard.

Ultimately, the Corolla entered SB I-69 in the northbound lanes at Morton Avenue roundabouts. During this time, deputies reportedly saw items being thrown from the car and onto I-69. Police said that while trying to evade stop sticks, the driver crossed the median into southbound lanes.

During this evasive maneuver, police said the Corolla was damaged and began leaking fluid - eventually becoming undrivable. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the car after it stopped moving and Collins and Thompson were taken into custody.

While searching the Corolla, deputies said they found a .380 handgun that was reported stolen to Martinsville police. They also recovered around 58 grams of meth, marijuana, scales, needles and other paraphernalia.

Ultimately, Collins and Thompson were both arrested and booked into the Morgan County Jail on the following charges:

  • Nolan Collins, 28, Martinsville

    • Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun (Level 5 Felony),

  • Kaylynn Thompson, 24, Bloomington
    • Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 3 Felony),
    • Possession of Marijuana (A Misdemeanor) and
    • Possession of Paraphernalia (C Misdemeanor).

According to police, Collins also had an outstanding warrant out of Vigo County. Online court records show that the warrant charged Collins with resisting law enforcement and paraphernalia possession.
