MUNCIE, Ind. — A Muncie man faces four felony counts of possession of child pornography after police said more than 50 videos containing child sexual abuse material were found on his phone.
According to court documents, officers from the Muncie Police Department were contacted after 28-year-old William McConnell was reportedly telling people he had child pornography on his phone.
Shortly thereafter, McConnell arrived at Muncie City Hall and requested EMS. Docs indicate that after he was evaluated, police spoke to him about the child porn allegations.
Mcconnell gave MPD officers permission to gather information from his phone. Before they began, he told them there was a child porn video saved to his photo gallery — sent to him while he was on an app called Telegram and saved to his gallery on November 3.
Police confirmed this to be true, but also found over 50 videos depicting children being abused and engaged in sexual activity on McConnell's phone. Court documents show these files were saved as early as October 25 and as late as November 7.
In Indiana, possession of child pornography is a Level 6 felony, punishable by up to 2.5 years in prison.
