ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- A Zionsville man has been charged after he reportedly touched a minor inappropriately during an incident earlier this month.

According to court documents, filed on Monday in Boone County, 51-year-old Jeffrey Alexander was charged with one count of child molesting where defendant is at least 21 years of age, a Level 1 felony.

This comes after Alexander told police he previously had been convicted of a child molestation charge in Montgomery County when he was 18 years old for an incident with a minor.

Court documents allege that Alexander reportedly touched a minor inappropriately when she was staying at his Zionsville home on May 7. The minor told police that Alexander touched the her inappropriately multiple times, telling police it began when she was 11 or 12.

The minor told police that Alexander reportedly touched her inappropriately every time that she is over at his home. The minor also told police that Alexander forced her to touch him inappropriately.

The minor reportedly told her mother about the incident and the mother contacted the Department of Child Services to start an investigation.

In an interview with police, Alexander denied touching the minor inappropriately, telling police "'that is disgusting,' he 'likes men' and he 'does not find women attractive.'" Alexander claimed that family members of the minor were telling her to make those allegations.

The court set an $80,000 bond, a higher than standard bond, for Alexander. The court documents said Alexander's pretrial conference is scheduled for July 17 while a jury trial is scheduled for Sept. 3.
