INDIANAPOLIS -- A 29-year-old has been taken into custody after a more than two-month-long investigation into narcotics trafficking into Indianapolis from California.

According to a post from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on its social media, Khalil Shelton was arrested on Monday in relation to multiple narcotics dealing offenses.

In September, investigators with the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force identified that trafficking was occurring from California into Indianapolis. During the task force's investigation, they learned Shelton was reportedly transporting narcotics across the country back to three homes in northeast Indianapolis.

When detectives believed Shelton was returning to Indianapolis, investigators were granted search warrants for the three homes Shelton was reportedly operating out of. The three searches were conducted on Monday and the post said that the following was recovered:

  • Around 10 ounces of powder cocaine
  • Around 10 pounds of marijuana
  • Multiple pills of suspected methamphetamine
  • 14 firearms, including two that were reported stolen
  • $25,000 in U.S. currency.

Shelton was taken into custody at one of the homes and was arrested on several drug dealing-related charges, including dealing cocaine over 10 grams, dealing methamphetamine and marijuana dealing over 10 pounds.

A second man, identified as 38-year-old Lucian McMillin, was also taken into custody at one of the homes. McMillin was arrested for dealing cocaine, dealing a controlled substance and visiting a common nuisance.
