BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University students who are graduating this month will now get the chance to participate in a commencement ceremony before their football team plays in the College Football Playoff.
Officials with the university announced on Monday that its winter commencement ceremony times have been changed so graduating students could travel to South Bend on Dec. 20 to watch the first round game between the No. 10 Indiana Hoosiers and No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The game will be played at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend at 8 p.m. on Dec. 20. The winner of the first-round game will play second-seeded Georgia in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Jan. 1, 2025.
According to the university's website, commencement will occur at 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Dec. 20 at the IU Auditorium, located on the university's Bloomington campus. The ceremonies were originally scheduled for 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Dec. 20.

- School of Medicine
- School of Optometry
- School of Social Work
- Jacobs School of Music
- Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering
- School of Education
- School of Nursing
- School of Public Health
- 12 p.m. ceremony
- College of Arts and Sciences
- The Media School
- Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture and Design
- Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies
- O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs
According to the website, graduates receiving degrees from the university's graduate school should plan to join the school most aligned with their field of study.
According to the University of Notre Dame's website, commencement will be hosted in May 2025. Dec. 20 serves as the university's day to make up final exams.
