SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. — One person was killed and nine were hospitalized after a crash Monday involving a charter bus and a van on Interstate 74 eastbound near Shelbyville.
Shelby County Sheriff's Dept. Maj. Chris Holder confirmed Monday afternoon that deputies were working a crash on I-74 EB near mile marker 112, which is just south of the Shelbyville Municipal Airport.
According to Maj. Holder, the crash involved a charter bus from Missouri and a Dodge van. It was later confirmed by officials that the driver of the van, identified as 52-year-old Jason Huber of Boggstown, was killed in the crash while nine people were treated at the hospital for complaints of pain. ISP later confirmed that none of the injuries were considered serious.
ISP said preliminary information indicates that the van was traveling eastbound on I-74 when, for unknown reasons, it crashed into the back of the bus, which was stopped on the roadway.
