INDIANAPOLIS -- A violent 24 hours left three men dead in Indianapolis on Saturday.

The coroner’s office has now confirmed the names of the three men killed.

The first of the three homicides took place outside a home on the near northeast side.

Just after midnight early Saturday morning, north district officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 2900 block of Schofield Avenue on a report of a person shot.

The 52-year-old victim ran up to the front door of his own home near 30th and Schofield and told his roommate he'd been shot in the chest.

The roommate tried to apply pressure to the wound, but the victim died after being rushed to the hospital.

"For that to happen to him wasn't right, because he didn't bother nobody," said neighbor Richard Mason.

The victim was identified as 52-year-old Willie Biles Jr.

His friends describe him as a loving father who enjoyed fixing cars and helping those in need.

"He was a cool dude.  If you needed something, he would help you.  I don't understand why someone would do something to him," said Mason.

Friends and neighbors of that victim say because Biles didn't have any significant criminal history or any known enemies, they're struggling to make sense of the violence.

Just one hour after that killing, IMPD was called to an apartment complex on the south side and found 23-year-old Marcus McGlaughlin shot to death in the 8300 block Siear Terrace.

Two people believed to be involved in the shooting were detained for questioning, but were then released without charges.

Around 8 p.m. Saturday, police were called to a home on the near east side along Ewing Street and found 46-year-old Clarence McGee dead on scene.

No suspect information was released in that case.

While the three deaths aren't related, Biles' friends and neighbors say they're tired people settling disputes with gunfire.

"You should be able to solve issues without the violence, but people just do dumb stuff," said Mason.
