FRANKLIN, Ind. — A man has been sentenced to one year at the Indiana Department of Correction and three years on probation for child solicitation and drug charges, the Johnson County Prosecutor's Office announced on Friday.
According to the JCPO, 42-year-old Fred Krispen Haas was sentenced on Thursday after he pleaded guilty to the following charges:
- Child solicitation (Level 4 felony)
- Dissemination of matter harmful to minors (Level 6 felony)
- Possession of marijuana (Class A misdemeanor)
- Possession of a controlled substance (Class A misdemeanor)
The JCPO reported that Haas must also register as a sex offender and a designated offender against children.
The charges can be traced back to a child solicitation investigation that was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies in April 2023. According to police, Haas admitted to sending sexual text messages to a person he believed to be a minor. He was arrested when he traveled to meet that minor. Per the JCPO, Haas also admitted to sending explicit pictures and bringing drugs to the meeting location.
"Once again, we have a deviant from Indianapolis coming to Johnson County to commit his crime," said Johnson County Prosecutor Lance Hamner. "Instead, he’s earned himself a little space for a year in the county jail and a permanent designation as a sex offender. This is what happens to people who cross that line to commit crimes in this county.”
