INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Fraternal Order of Police and the City of Indianapolis have ratified a contract for IMPD with a 97% approval rating, Indianapolis FOP President Rick Snyder confirmed on Thursday.

According to previous reports, this contract includes a pay increase for IMPD staff, with roughly a 24% increase in salaries on average. Starting salaries for IMPD officers will hover around $72,000 per year, per Indy.gov.

This is one of the highest starting salaries for new officers throughout the entire state.

In a post to X, Snyder called the contract a four-year agreement that aims to focus on officer retention. It will go into effect in 2025 and run through 2028, Indy FOP said.

Thanking Mayor Joe Hogsett and IMPD as a whole, Snyder said the contract "...sets the stage for the largest contract in the history of the IMPD."
