INDIANAPOLIS -- Two people have been pronounced dead after a reported shooting on the near north side of Indianapolis.
According to officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers with the department's north district responded to a report of a shooting at a home in the 400 block of W 38th Street.
When officers arrived at the home, they located two individuals who were shot. Both individuals were pronounced dead on scene.
According to IMPD Sgt. William Young, the public information officer at the scene, IMPD officers responded to the 300 block of W 38th Street to assist the Washington Township Constable's Office a little after 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
Young said that a preliminary investigation uncovered that the constable's office was serving an eviction notice when they heard shots fired from inside a home.
When IMPD responded, they found two individuals, an adult woman and an adult man, inside with gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Young said that the department is calling it a "death investigation" and stressed that he does not believe there is an ongoing threat to the area.
