INDIANAPOLIS — A person was seriously injured in a crash that forced Interstate 69 to briefly close in both directions on Tuesday.
The crash happened near the exit for State Road 13 and Fortville. Traffic needed to be stopped in both directions to allow a helicopter to land at the scene, according to Indiana State Police.
The crash occurred near the 214.6 mile marker. One vehicle was involved in the crash, police said.
Crews with the South Madison Fire Territory responded around 12:27 p.m. to I-69 after receiving reports of a serious crash involving possible entrapment.
SMFD said crews arrived on the scene and located one individual trapped inside an inverted pickup truck.
The individual was successfully extricated and transported via helicopter to an area hospital for treatment of "serious" injuries.
This is a developing story.
