DALLAS, Texas — Police are investigating after a Southwest airplane was reportedly struck by gunfire at a Dallas airport Friday night.
Passengers reported that, at around 9:15 p.m., the plane was preparing to takeoff from Dallas to Indianapolis when it was hit by a bullet.
The plane was reportedly brought to a sudden stop, and passengers were taken off the plane and moved to another one. No injuries were reported.
The plane was reportedly carrying 99 passengers at the time of its departure. According to The Hill, the plane was struck on its right side just under the flight deck while a crew was preparing for takeoff.
The runway the plane was on was shut down for a brief period of time. Per The Hill, officials with Dallas Love Field Airport indicated the shooting had minimal impact on operations for the rest of the night.
The plane that was hit by the gunfire — a Boeing 737-800 — was taken out of service after the shooting.
Passengers reported that they departed on another flight just after 11 p.m. with no other issues. The flight touched down in Indianapolis at 2 a.m.
There's no word on who shot the plane, or where they shot from. The Dallas Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
