INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating an early morning crash that left a woman severely burned
According to IMPD, just before 12:30 a.m., a vehicle occupied by an adult female and 2-year-old passenger was driving eastbound on Interstate 70, when she ran off the ramp into the side of a building in the 4800 block of E. 23rd St.
Police said the woman suffered burns from the crash and was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition.
The 2-year-old child was taken to Riley's Children's Hospital at IU Health, but police say the child was not injured.
The driver was being investigated for driving intoxicated, but police believe that she may have been going through a medical emergency while driving.
