ANDERSON, Ind. -- Two men have been arrested in relation to a Tuesday afternoon stabbing at an Anderson gas station.
According to an update from the Anderson Police Department, 29-year-old Jacob McIntyre and 22-year-old Travis Zapf were arrested on Wednesday after the reported stabbing.
On Tuesday afternoon, Anderson police responded to a gas station on Meridian Street in relation to a stabbing. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 36-year-old man who was reportedly stabbed sitting in a vehicle near the intersection of 19th and Jackson Street.
Anderson police said in an update that the 36-year-old man pulled into the parking lot of the gas station and was reportedly followed by a white SUV that blocked him in.
When sitting in the car, the release said that the man was approached by a man who was armed with a handgun and knife. The release said an altercation then occurred and the 36-year-old was stabbed multiple times. The white SUV reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.
After the incident, the 36-year-old man was then taken to an Indianapolis hospital and "remains in serious condition."
On Wednesday, detectives with the department located both McIntyre and Zapf at a home in Daleville. Officials said both men were taken into custody without incident.
The release said the incident continues to be under investigation. The Madison County Prosecutor's Office has requested a 72-hour extension on the filing of charges. If anyone has more information on the incident, they are asked to call the department at (765) 648-6750.
